At the Nigeria Prestige Education Awards, Covenant University places top out of the nation’s 111 private universities.
Over the weekend, Covenant University won the title of Best Private University of the Year 2022 during a red carpet ceremony recognizing outstanding Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary institutions around Nigeria.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Professor David Imhonopi, as well as important staff members and student council executives, provided strong representation for the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun Adebayo. “It is safe to declare that none of the honors should go to the University’s Faculty, Staff, or Students, but instead go to God,” the dean said in a statement during the occasion.
The Chairman of Covenant University’s Students’ Council, Mr. Victor Egbadon, gave the event’s awards acceptance address during which he credited the university’s advantage over other institutions to the inventive minds of its staff and students.
Mr. Egbadon made reference to the Schools Town and Gown Seminars, where students have the chance to speak with business professionals and gain practical knowledge.
While making his welcome remarks, the Organizer of the event, in the person of Mr.M.A.Obiola,emphasized that such prestigious awards and recognitions could only be issued to the most outstanding schools. “The event is aimed at celebrating heroes in Education and Changemakers,” he stated.
While receiving the Award from the team, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, returned all the glory to God for the great feat.
He stated, “No man can receive anything from the Lord except it is given to him”. He appreciated the Board of Regents led by the Chancellor, Dr. David O. Oyedepo, for providing an enabling platform that stimulates a great learning context.
He reiterated, ”Covenant University is God-founded, God-funded and God is equally running the University; no wonder it’s the best of the best. To Him alone be all the glory!”
