Liverpool midfielder, Fabinho will sit out Saturday’s FA Cup final with Chelsea due to an injury, club coach Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

The Brazilian was substituted following a hamstring strain in Liverpool’s win over Aston Villa on Tuesday and it has raised concerns over the extent of the injury, and if it will affect his availability, especially as the club has a Champions League final against Real Madrid coming up.

Team News

  • Mateo Kovacic is set to miss out on Saturday after picking up an ankle injury against Leeds on Wednesday.
  • Jorginho returned from injury in the 3-0 win over Leeds but N’Golo Kante missed out once more.
  • Romelu Lukaku has scored in back-to-back matches to give Thomas Tuchel a selection headache up front.
  • Fabinho will almost certainly miss Saturday’s FA Cup final with a hamstring injury suffered in midweek. Jordan Henderson may have to cover for the Brazilian.
  • Mo Salah and Thiago will return to the starting XI after dropping to the bench for Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
  • Andy Robertson was given the night off completely against Villa and should return at left-back here.
  • Jurgen Klopp has to choose between Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate at centre-back to partner Virgil van Dijk.

  • Liverpool are looking to complete a domestic cup double after beating Chelsea on penalties in the League Cup final earlier this year. They haven’t lost away from home since December.
  • Jurgen Klopp hasn’t managed to beat Thomas Tuchel in regular time across their last five meetings but it’s hard not to favour Liverpool on Saturday.
