Uber Launches “Okada” Option in Ibadan

Uber has announced the launch of a motorcycle option, UberMoto, to join its product offering in Nigeria. UberMoto is a two-wheeler low-cost alternative and smart mobility option for city residents to navigate traffic quicker and effectively to get from one place to another.
It is interesting that Uber is getting into this space and that it chose Ibadan to commence its operations. It is definitely following in the success of SafeBoda who kicked off its bike-hailing operations in the same city in 2020.
In a statement made available to Innovation Village, UberMoto is extending its current product offerings already available in the city with safety, reliability, and convenience just a tap away. Residents of Ibadan are now able to travel around the city by requesting the well trusted motorcycles (Okadas) which are now available on the Uber app.
Uber started its operations in Ibadan in October 2021 with UberX and this new product offering which minimum fare starts at N100, offers riders a 78% lower-cost alternative.
According to Tope Akinwumi, Country Manager for Uber in Nigeria, “As we recover, we know we need to continue to offer solutions that respond to consumers who are looking for smart mobility solutions, while providing new revenue streams and earning opportunities for drivers.
“It makes sense for us to launch a product that will help passengers get to their destination quicker, which is where we can leverage our technology and we are excited to introduce UberMoto to make this a reality,” he added
UberMoto carries the same door-to-door safety features as any other Uber option such as Injury Protection, 24/7 support, including driver background checks and screenings.
Uber’s goal is to always provide innovative products and services to help improve the rider and driver experience on the app. “We are excited that we are able to expand our options and provide an opportunity with a wider and more cost-effective range of options for both the riders and drivers in the city while navigating traffic seamlessly,” concludes Akinwumi.
To request a trip on UberMoto, riders need to simply open the app and tap on UberMoto, they can then select cash or card as their payment option. Riders will also be able to see whether others have had a good experience with the UberMoto drivers and will be able to contact each other via the app if there is any confusion around pick-up details.
Uber is available in over 54 cities in Sub-Saharan Africa and in over 10 000 cities in over 65 countries.

World’s Richest Man Elon Musk Says He Doesn’t Mind Going to Hell Fire!

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, the US electric vehicle and clean energy company, says he does not mind going to hell fire when he dies.
The multi-billionaire businessman was reacting to a Twitter user who asked him about his religious views. In various religions, hell is referred to as a spiritual realm of evil and suffering. It is often traditionally depicted as a place of perpetual fire beneath the earth where the wicked are punished after death.
On Monday, Musk had shared a cryptic post wherein he seems to be reflecting on his fears about death.
“If I die under mysterious circumstances, it’s been nice knowin ya,” he wrote in the terse post.
Reacting to the post, the verified user named Mohammed had advised him to ensure he embrace God and admit to his supremacy before he dies.
“You won’t die before your day Elon. Anyhow, you are/were a unique figure in this world. I’m only wondering one thing: As a genius, haven’t you find out that there is a great creator of this world yet? If you did, make sure you confess this before your last heart beat. Bless u,” the user wrote.
In his response, the entrepreneur appreciated Mohammed’s advice but said he remains unperturbed about going to hell.
“Thank you for the blessing, but I’m ok with going to hell, if that is indeed my destination, since the vast majority of all humans ever born will be there,” he replied.
Musk has been in the news since his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter.

As an Admin, you can now add up to 512 users to your WhatsApp group
Meta’s WhatsApp is making life easier for large organizations that use its platform.
The company announced on Thursday that groups are getting twice as big as before, going from 256 people to 512 people. With this strategic move, WhatsApp is becoming a bit more like Telegram, which is still ahead with the ability to add up to 100,000 people into a “supergroup.”
I Can’t add more than 256 people to my WhatsApp group yet – why?
Not to worry, WhatsApp says the feature is being slowly rolled out.
Another new feature includes the ability to share files up to 2GB in size, which is a massive improvement from the previous limit of 100MB.
WhatsApp says the files are protected by end-to-end encryption, and suggests you use Wi-Fi for sharing particularly large files, though uploads and downloads of such files will show a counter that will tell you how much longer you’ll have to wait.
